Medical database applications

Business purpose

Our customer represents a European company that develops and promotes medical software. The purpose of the customer was to create a medical database for training doctors. It was necessary to develop a tag system of medical elements (illnesses, symptoms, diagnostic methods, treatment methods, etc.) and connections between them, as well as a block of lessons and exercises.

IT staffing

Initially the task for the Noveo team was to create the Coreapp - a web application which creates medical content: descriptions of diseases, their treatment, etc. It was also planned to use this knowledge base for training doctors. The specificity of the project was that this knowledge base was structured as a graph in its mathematical sense. To carry out the system in the form of a graph, our developers studied a new technology - a model for presenting RDF data, which is perfect for implementing all the relationships in the graph.

The next step was to develop the medical application for patients. The purpose was to provide consultation on the treatment, via API they can use the medical content from Coreapp. Using the mobile application they can receive treatment and contact a doctor; for the doctor, there is a web application where he or she can prescribe treatment and manage his appointments. Noveo developed not just the web and mobile applications, but SDKs for these applications, the so-called Building blocks, which are easily integrated into any other applications, for example, another medical institution of the customer. Using the customer’s design our team made the whole analytics on all building blocks and applications, their development and testing.
