We invite a Freelance DevOps / FinOps Engineer to join our team.

About us

  • On the market since 2002;
  • Operational departments and development hubs worldwide.

Project description

The project is running workloads on both Azure and AWS cloud providers. The goal is run a FinOps program across the projects: cost governance, tooling that lets application teams see and understand their cloud spend, and regular FinOps sessions with application owners that turn findings into real savings. You'll join a small dedicated team with a delivery coordinator as the hands-on cloud and cost optimization specialist. Results are measured by technical KPIs and by the savings actually achieved on cloud consumption.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on DevOps or cloud engineering experience.
  • Practical experience with both Azure and AWS, including their pricing models and native cost tools (Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, CUR).
  • A track record of cloud cost optimization with measurable results.
  • Terraform in production use.
  • Daily work with the IT teams.
  • Ability to explain and defend recommendations in front of application owners who are not FinOps people.
  • Autonomy and reliability in a part-time remote setup.
  • Python and SQL for data analysis.
  • Databricks (the project is currently adopting it).
  • BI and reporting tools (Power BI or similar).
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent.
  • Kubernetes cost optimization.
  • Experience in large multi-entity organizations.
  • Fluent English (Upper-intermediate and above).
  • Fluent French (Upper-intermediate and above).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Azure and AWS consumption, find optimization opportunities (rightsizing, reservations and savings plans, storage tiers, idle resources, architecture choices) and estimate the expected savings.
  • Work directly with application teams on complex usage optimizations and help them implement the changes, including in Terraform.
  • Run studies on new topics (pricing models, new services, cost allocation approaches) and turn them into practical recommendations.
  • Contribute to governance: tagging and allocation rules, budgets, alerts, policies.
  • Help the data engineer define what cost data to collect and how to present it in reports.
  • Take part in FinOps sessions with application owners and help track the savings achieved.

We offer

  • Part-time, contract job.
  • About 20 hours per week.
  • Fully remote, with working hours overlapping the CET business day.
